Parents and Son Camp: Kesy Gang Edition 2015

I still cannot move on.

This is the lingering feeling that I still have right now after the Parents and Son Camp of my gr. 7 Francis Kesy students. At first I am not sure why this activity of my students affected me greatly, but soon I realized that this event left a great mark in my heart which will always be there until my dying day.

The Parents and Son Camp is a spiritual program of the high school department of Don Bosco College whose goal is to of course bring parents and sons together for a day of bonding and hopefully getting to understand each other as a family a little bit better. As the class adviser of gr. 7 Kesy, it is my duty to make sure that all preparations are all set for this camping.

If you are going to ask me, it was a whirlwind experience of going here and there, meeting parents, and prepping students for the camp. To tell you honestly, it was so tiring just thinking of all the things that must be done for the camp, but thank God, everything pushed through smoothly.

Despite the wearisome preparations for the camp, I can say proudly that I am more than willing to undergo the same process a thousand times. I am so confident about this statement because I feel so honored and blessed to see parents and their sons having the time of their life together. Rarely do we see a family together so close and so happy nowadays.  On those blessed days of the camp, I felt as if I was God's instrument in bringing families together and mending broken relationships.

The following are the highlights of the camp:

I guess, happiness need not be seen and received from great things. In the simplicity of being together with your family, and I mean being really together, will you find one of the greatest joys in life.

I was feeling so sick on those two days of camp, but what the heck, all of the sacrifices was worth it just seeing parents and sons together even for just a day or two.

That is why I still cannot move on. If you were in the same position as I am, seeing the joy of families being together, you wouldn't be able to move on as well.

p.s. I wish to thank all the teacher and student facilitators who helped in making this event possible. I also wish to thank the parents and parent officers who have been so generous in lending their time and effort for the camp. Lastly, I wish to thank my Kesy Gangsters whose presence in my life make it colorful like a dash of a rainbow.
